If printers are used intermittently then a buildup of ink can occur on the print heads which cannot be removed by the head wiper. Your printer incorporates a self-management system that will periodically eject a small amount of ink to prevent the phenomenon. These pads soak up the ejected ink and need to be periodically replaced.
